I use this as a fob, and believe it to be ancient counterfeit(Fouree). My reasons are the weight is completely off, the reason for that is it's plated over copper. I believe it has age though, because the piece as you will see is at an 90 degree orientation (obverse-reverse). The piece feels like it shows genuine age, and the hole that is in it-doesn't look like a modern drilled hole. Inside the hole it looks like dirt has built up, as it doesn't disappear given it has a ring in it-from my chain. Another thing is the hole is in the perfect line for the lions eye, I don't know what to make of this.

However I'm very aware that modern counterfeiters go through extreme lengths to perfect there work and deceive well.

This is why I'm putting it to the Jury, is it an ancient fouree or a modern counterfeit.

Weight 13.42 grams, I know it's copper beneath from the specific gravity.
Diameter 26 mm
Depth 0.5 mm

Sorry about the blurring around the rim, my scanner felt special . (I'm trying to perfect my photography, hence the use of the scanner).

It is a ancient fouree I believe. I find the weights for the fourees are about 25% lighter than the silver coins.

That's interesting about the weight, I hope it's a fouree. But I don't want to count my chickens so to speak. Thank-you for the reply, and information :).

I don't believe it's a fouree. The difference in the weight can be due to the amount of wear and the hole. The coin appears to be a lifetime issue. Take it off your key chain and add it the your collection.

echizento the core is copper though? But yeah the legend suggests a lifetime issue, the chain it's on is a silver albert chain.
