Is the thing beside the 1 on the left hand side a dot or a pit? Which brings me to my next question, what is the difference? And how is this viewed by error collectors? Thanks! Oh and the penny has lots of lustre. The dark spot in the middle is the camera lens.

Is that a non magnetic penny? I think 2010 both have the MM, if so it might be the start of a gas bubble. I can't be sure from your pics.

Just a comment on the size of that gas bubble, pits or dots.
Dots are design features that are massive compared to pits.
Dots are there for a purpose---mainly to provide an optical sense of balance to whatever is near the dot.
Pits are random and do not make any design sense.
Dots are made to be seen---not small.
