It's a 3rd party coin not sanctioned by the mint. It's basically a private collector who is painting the bullion coins themselves.

I personally stay away from them.

The Falcon - first coin from Birds of Prey bullion series (probably the Proof series will run in parallel), but colorized by the private entity, I think in Germany.

Could be nice in hand, will be sold for some premium (~$55?), but as every coin, buy only if you like. Do not expect any return value over basic bullion.

Yeah I think the selling price is $59? and it has a mintage of 5000....I also stay away from these coloured and gilded bullion coins.......way to easy for someone else to replicate and say its part of the original mintage that the German company set out.

With this, I will trust on the dealer, but certainly, will not try to buy it from "somewhere".

Not my thing either but they look decent. Still, more than double the cost of the unpainted coin.

$26.05 at TGB right now so $55 is actually more than double.

These are not done by a private collector but has been enhanced by a third party mint in Germany. This is not for everyone but for collectors that are looking for something a little bit different with a wow factor. It's either you love it or hate it ! It does cost more than a bullion coin due to the work involved in coloring the coin.

Well, they are PMD by definition, but if you like the design, go for it. The problem is, there is NO way to validate their mintage claims, so for all we know, they release 10 times how many they say they do.

Also spotted on ebay with gold plating now.

I say the colored and plated versions do pretty well over time, just from looking at older coins where they apply color or gold select plating.
