The 1804 quarter was one of the coins I just 'had to have' when I first started collecting US coins. 1st year of issue with a low mintage, it is in fact overall comparable in scarcity to the much more expensive 1796 quarter, specially in higher grades. Being a one-year type, however, the 1796 draws more attention.

This particular coin, ex Stacks, is not in superior grade, but still has nice detail and is nicely toned. It is the variety B-1, the most common of the 1804 quarter varieties. I grade it G6, maybe a little higher. How would you grade it.

another early American beauty from your collection.

The price you paid was likely a bargain. I looked on Collector's Corner and a dealer had an AG-3 listed at $3,250 the next highest grade a VG-8 was over $7,000!

I think yours is on the border of G-6 and VG-8.

GERMANICVS! Another beauty! WOW!

If I had to grade this beauty I would go G-4 obverse, VG-8 reverse, G-6 overall.

Please keep posting your incredible collection!

Oooohh! I love these types of circulated looks! It almost looks like a worn cameo-like coin because of the silvery bust and darker fields.

Thank you.
Early U.S coinage is one of my numismatic passions, and the 1804 quarter was always high on my list. I was very glad to be able to buy this example.

As I understand it, a small hoard of 1804 quarters, approximately 15-20 examples or so, appeared in the market around 2009 and were dispersed I believe via Heritage and various dealers. The issue is therefore not rare,
and is probably now a R-3 coin.
