My suspicions were true. The Canadian seller sent me the valuable coin I purchased with only $3.79 shipping and no tracking because it is worthless, and probably counterfeit. Here's a photo of the coin I purchased, and a photo of what seller sent. What I bought: What seller sent: A total joke, it looks fake. I immediately told the seller I was sending it back, opening a case, and going dispute it with Capital One. I mailed it back on Monday morning, and when I told the seller I had sent it back, they said they'd issue a refund. They were willing to issue a refund on my word that I had returned the coin because they knew it was worthless. It feels like a crime was committed here. There's no way this was an accident. I received my refund today, and I sent the seller a message asking for my return shipping also. I think I can still leave feedback even though the case is closed. If ever a negative feedback is deserved it's this time. Now this seller is in Canada, and I'm in Northern NY, only about a 2 hr drive away, and I'd hate to put my family in jeopardy over this. These are some really bad people whoever they are. Seller is first_jewelry_store. I'm willing to take partial responsibility because I should have vetted the seller better.

It seems obvious to me that the facts as presented by you are correct. Don't however, allow your emotions to rule your subsequent actions. Take a cold, reasoned approach that you consider will yield the best results for yourself.
Same philosophy should apply to using the roads.

The coin offered for sale is/was one of the Penny Lady's holdings; the image is from Todd Pollock's BlueCC Photos: http://bluccphotos.com/clients/char...mages/30.jpgSo your Feedback might want to mention the fact that the seller stole someone else's image.

Thanks guys. I wasn't implying that I'd be using the roads, but that the seller might if I left really bad feedback. Dave, great find. If you don't mind me asking, how did you do find it? Since the crook did give a fast refund with an apology, I'd hate to leave negative feedback (seems like a funny statement since the criminal tried to pick my pocket,) but can't see leaving anything less than neutral feedback, with a comment about using photos from someone else.

Quote: Dave, great find. If you don't mind me asking, how did you do find it? Google Image Search. It's a right-click context menu option in Chrome (don't know about the other browsers). I right-clicked your image, chose "Search Google for this image," and it linked me to a Collectors Universe thread where the full image appeared in a Penny Lady post. The auction image you posted is half of Penny Lady's image (you can see a slice of the coin's reverse at the right). I did the same image search from Penny Lady's image, and it proved to be linked from Todd's site. He obviously shot the image for her. This was a deliberate act of deception on the part of the seller, and should be treated as such.

Thanks Dave. I'll give seller a couple of days to reimburse me for the shipping, and if I don't hear anything, I think negative feedback is totally appropriate in this case. Trying to bait and switch with fake coins is a big no no.

Either way negative feedback is warranted imo. I dont take leaving negative feedback lightly but bait and switch is absolutely why it was created. That cant even be defended as using a stock photo.

Yep, you got it!! Thanks guys. Negative feedback will be left.
edit: Negative feedback left. Made me a bit nervous to do it, but it is what it is........totally appropriate!

Never fun to have to do, but I bet you got the refund so fast because he knows exactly what hes doing which makes it harder for good sellers.
Might want to block him too to make sure he doesn't retaliate on any of your listings

Good idea.......done! Thanks.
edit: BTW the seller did the same thing to another buyer with the same photos and counterfeit coin. They should be arrested, but I doubt anything will happen.

I believe he's asking if you reported this transaction to ebay. You stated you got your refund through your credit card so there was no red flag triggered by any claim to PayPal or ebay. Glad you didn't get ripped off.

I did open a case with ebay. When I said "open a case" in my previous post, I should have added 'through ebay.' I just also went through Capital One to make sure. You can definitely believe I'd open a case through ebay. No doubt. This was about as bad as it gets. Thanks. Ed
