Quote: Here is a horrible thought though. If you got $2,000 back, that means the government held about $166/Month of your money. IF you planned ahead, you could have put that same amount away each Month and collected interest on it all year long. Or as I do, I owe them money each year. BUT all the money I owe was sitting in an account gaining interest. Just a thought. What interest in this economic environment? Yeah, what, like, 1%?

I can't wait to see the coin when you get it. I've looked through APMEX's stock of silver dollars ten times over and I've seen this coin in particular a few times. I'm sure you will be receiving it soon because I usually get my shipment within two business days. Then again, I'm in Louisiana and APMEX is in Oklahoma...

Quote: I'm sure you will be receiving it soon because I usually get my shipment within two business days. Well, let's hope. I paid by next day business wire, but because it was after banking ours I assume that meant it would be the next day after that. APMEX's site says they haven't received payment yet and their offices are closed today for Good Friday. So it may not be until next week that they even get the payment confirmed...

You could put it in a... Oh, what's it called... One of those things where you can't withdraw or deposit money for a few years, but it gains higher interest? Ehhh, what do I know?

It's called a Certificate of Deposit. Not to be used unless you won't need the money before maturity. Then there is a penalty. The 'sweet spot' for Federal Taxes is to OWE just less than $500. No penalty. The sad thing is, people cannot save on their own and instead loan the Feds money at NO INTEREST. Disclosure: I did not file this year nor last year. My income falls under the minimum requiring a return to be filed. Lastly, a case was brought years ago, and it was ruled that: To avoid taxes is legal. To evade taxes in illegal. Avoiding simply means learning the rules.

Oh, a CD! I was thinking a CP or something, but that just didn't sound right.
Thanks for the info.

Not yet. I messed up the payment and my bank wire was rejected. I resent payment yesterday and the coin has now been shipped. I should have it within a few days.

All right, the coin just arrived! It's a beautiful coin, but I have to admit that if it weren't for the slab I never would have guessed it was actually a proof coin (I have PL and DMPL examples that have more reflective fields than this does). But I guess that's what happens when you get a PR62 coin. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but still probably the best I will ever find for the money I spent. Please excuse the reflection from my red camera in the pictures (and note that there is a scuff mark on the holder below Liberty's chin and along her neck):
