1872 Seated Liberty Half Dime - Obverse Doubling?

angellionel Valued Member United States 191 Posts	Posted 04/17/2014 8:13 pm I was taking close-up photos of the following Half Dime when I noticed what appears to be doubling on the obverse at the base and in AMERICA. Waxemm Valued Member United States 450 Posts	Posted 04/18/2014 10:50 am I would agree that it looks like longacre doubling as well, I didn't know it affected dimes as well. I know it's quite common on the copper coins of that time. Report this Post to the Staff

Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 05/05/2014 09:39 am There is a DDO known for this date but this isn't it. The doubling on the DDO is much more extreme. As mentioned this is Longacre Doubling which can be found on all coins issued during Longacre's tenure, and on some series considerably later. Report this Post to the Staff
