I had an inkling that I was about to be disappointed when I read their welcoming e-mail Quote: Thank you for your order and we hope you enjoy your subscription to Canada's essential magazine for the advanced and beginning collector of stamps, Canadian Coin News Why are so many of our Canadian coin collecting institutions so second-rate and amateurish? "Dipping" is not considered cleaning... -from PCGS website

"magazine for the advanced and beginning collector of stamps" is more than just a typo, it signifies a lazy and complacent attitude. The disappointment on all the platforms I tried, smacks of quick & cheap.

Hi DBM, thanks for sharing.I also hesitated between electronic and paper but elected for the paper edition.Glad I did now. I know that there is also a Canadian Stamps publication they produce.I would call their subscription line at :1-800-408-0352 to resolve the issue. Good luck and keep us posted.

@DBM so many Canadian coin collecting institutions are second rate and amateurish for one huge reason. Numismatics is not an industry in Canada ,as it is in the US or parts of Europe. Australia is also far and away ahead of Canada in the Coin World as well. The CCN is a necessary evil for the trends section. Other than that it takes about five minutes to read the entire issue. That said I do commend them for the bi weekly issues as it is pretty much all we have for a national coin publication. On another issue as to second rate and amateurish, with a very few exceptions, compare a major Canadian coin show to an American regional show, 30-40 tables vs 100-150 tables.

Quote: ...as it is pretty much all we have for a national coin publication I beg to differ. I think the CN Journal (for members of the RCNA) is a great national coin publication....

Is the Journal of controlled membership organization really a national publication?
How long does it take to get through the nomination process?

few are members of this fine organization, therefore hardly qualifies as available as the CCN.

the content in the CN Journal stands head and shoulders above anything written in CCN. Even if you are only 1/2 serious about your coins, you should be a member of the RCNA.

I stopped getting CCN because I was disappointed in both the service and content. The writers are paid very little if anything at all. When I receive the journal I immediately jump to numismatically Canadian ,its always a good read.
