Hello,

I am looking at possibly buying this coin.

The seller maintains it is a DDR most prominently showing within the 'I' and 'N' on the reverse at around 6 o'clock.

I do not have the obverse photo since my file decided to self destruct.

I can obtain it later on but in the meantime I wanted to get opinions on whether or not this reverse side qualifies as a DDR and not machine doubling(if applicable).

Please state whether or not this coin appears to be authentic and if this reverse side is a DDR.

Also opine on the reverse side's grade.

Finally, assuming that the obverse side has a similar grade what could one expect to receive as a retail price for this coin?

Thanks,
mdpmedia

I suspect collectors of Spanish coins from this period would know better than me--are the positions of letters/digits different on every die? If so, then the dies were made using individual punches for each letter/digit/design detail. In such a case, doubling on the die would simply be a double-punched digit rather than a doubled die. And double-struck/re-engraved digits are common for this period, right? I have a couple on British coins which are dramatic because they involve one letter punched over another. In the case of this coin, I cannot see much to suggest a double-punched legend.
