Hey everyone.

I used to collect interesting coins when I was a child and now I've been having a clear out and I have been going through my old collection. This particular coin I just cannot identify, the back is completely worn and the front contains a crown, two stars either side, a dot beneath and a laurel below. The outer rim is a thicker set than the inner section. I can also make out the letters W and I, but thats about it! Any ideas?

Welcome!
There are some letters on the upper rim as well, which might be legible with a picture that's a bit clearer.

Hi there,

I'm struggling to take a closer picture, suffice to say the letters at the top are indecipherable to me and a magnifying glass!

Can you show a picture of the reverse as well? It might be a button instead of a coin.

I've tried to take a clearer pic of the front and a new one of the back.
Cheers!

Is it possible that it is a button for clothing?

I had never considered it as a button!

I think a button backmark has become more likely, as the better pic seems to reveal the three characters after WI to be "& Co."

The crown above the buttonpost indicates was a gilt button of late 18th or early 20th century British manufacture, conforming to standards of the trade. There are lots of indexes online, mainly for metal detectorists, of button backmarks, but I haven't found this one just yet.
