I know this is the Canadian NCLT forum but there is a lot of discussion on the RFD forum of them and practically none on the Australian NCLT forum. What do you think of the Gold 1/4 oz and 1 oz Silver Steamboat Willie coins issued by the Perth Mint of Australia. Both are sold out with the Gold coin sold out in minutes. Gold mintage is 1000 coins and the silver 10,000 coins. About $700 for the gold and $100 for the silver. The gold one is selling for up to double the issue price on ebay. *** Edited by Staff - Moved from Canadian ***Edited by MoneyPenney 04/19/2014 1:46 pm

Have 3 gold coming. I don't like them, but I saw the activity on the release day and got lucky.

So far, they are a flipper feeding frenzy. It remains to be seen if collectors have any interest.

wow nice job sherwood.
I wouldn't mind getting this coin, heck I didn't even know that it came out but I like it.
I would gladly pay up for the premium on this coin except that what holds me back is that I think, and I Could be wrong, but I am of the thought that lower prices in gold and silver are coming and that will drive down all coins, even this series, allow me to get one cheaper than the current prices.
we;ll see! I really do want a gold one!

Thanks yup7676....amazing what a $1000 will get you.lol
Apparently the series consists of 8 gold & silver coins over the next 2 years so hopefully I can get all 8,gold and silver. I already have the first silver one too.
I don't really care if the price of gold & silver goes down as I don't plan on selling them, just hand them down to the kids and grandkids when I'm gone.(then they'll probably sell them for half price ! lol)
I'm a big Disney fan and really dig these coins so I decided to splurge a bit !Take Care

@Sherwood Yea thats what I thought, have they released some sort of production schedule? I wonder if Donald Duck would be next, would love to have some coins with him. I am tempted to jump on the Mickey Mouse silver coin,,, and I still am tempted to bite on the gold one. I think I am going to stalk the ebay auctions, tho I saw some at 1,000 and was tempted,, sooo tempted to snag one. Just its been my experience that sometimes hanging back and patiently watching the prices and the spot prices, usually I can snag a bit of a deal and not pay so much, tho sometimes I can resist the urge haha!!

@yup7676 I read somewhere that there will be 8 coins released over the next 2 years so I'm guessing 4 a year but who knows ? I basically decided when I seen one on ebay in Canada for about $1000cdn I'd grab it. I didn't want to pay brokerage fees or duty to get it into the country so I wanted a Canadian dealer. I picked the silver coin up here also for about $15 over what the Perth Mint was selling it for so that's not too bad. I told the seller to contact me when any new ones come out and he has them in stock. I'm hoping he'll give me a bit of a discount if I buy the whole Disney series from him. I haven't broke the good news to wifey yet... all I said was don't buy me a father's day gift this year I bought a few coins ! lol I agree that if you hang back and watch you'll probably get a pretty good deal,I'm just to impatient and couldn't wait ! Have a great weekend bud !! Dave

You don't want to pay brokerage fee but are happy to pay $300 over issue price does not make sense and you don't pay duty on pure gold or silver.

elkslayer132: Come on.... he is happy to buy from a Canadian dealer, so it helps improving our economy, etc But it's true that if shipped with UPS or other private company there could be brokerage fees that are out of our control and buying here in Canada is easy to return if there is a problem.

@Coin_Enthusiast First of all, welcome to the Forum, we are glad you have joined us! If you want these coins, the silver and gold, the best option will be to stalk ebay auctions and participate in them. I dont think you will be able to get them at issue price as they were popular and managed to stay above their initial release prices. However I can see they are pulling back and have pulled back from how they got in then the secondary market prices.

Quote: Anybody know where to buy this coin close to issued price? Yup76 correct, they will be listed above issue in order to cover the ebay fees plus some small premium. But, I recently, couple days prior to the question sold one of my spares for issue + ebay / PP fees, since wanted to sell it quick, like "to find good home to coin". Search ebay....many of them listed, contact sellers, if they really want to sell, they would do deal with you.
