Out of a roll. Caught my eye immediately because the 2000 looks strange, and the date is usually the first thing I look at on a coin.
The "ring totem" thing also looks a bit "softer" than a non-accumulation one, or is it just me?

The obverse looks normal.

What could have caused this?

In the millennium 25c series there were a number of these "fat letter" varieties produced. Looks awesome to me! I would not be surprised if the ring totem looks softer, since this variety is the result of some serious Die Deterioration.

Apparently Millennium quarters have a lot of die chips on them. Better keep my eyes peeled, maybe I'll find some more.
