Thought id let people know how cutting up the collection is going. The answer is not so well...quite a loss at the moment.
Sold the SAECVLARES AVGG (1000 year celebration) for just £15 with postage, less than half of what I bought it for.
Im hoping for good things from Carausius PAX AVGGG - the same type sold for over £100 not long ago, but it has less than an hour to go and still at £2.20.
Im forecasting a pretty big loss overall here, unfortunately. The Maximian AVGGG also hasnt got much on it, and its unlisted, so I hope that can go up a bit and make up some losses.

I put it on the promotion thing - the rules dont go so wlel for advertising here.
The Carausius sold for £25.00, which is about what I thought the bottom estimate would be, so thats not too bad. Broke even.
The COL NEM sold for only a few quid, which is a bit annoying, but thats how it goes I suppose.
Im hoping to get between £100 and £200 from the whole bunch. You know, I'm not so annoyed at making losses on it all, because I figure I've got hundreds of pounds worth of education through this stuff, and its time for someone else to get that too.

Selling at auction is always a bit of a roll of the dice. I have had a (very)few US Large Cents which went from $35 in the last minute and took off like rockets in the last 45 seconds. One even broke the 500 mark ! I am still scratching my head on that one. Suffice to say the buyer says he was "thrilled" ...... good enough for me. Right now I have a few 'ants' up for auction. The emperor Carus appears to have quite a bit of appeal. I hate to say goodbye to him but he was not getting the attention he deserves from me. Some good stuff going now, happy with the prices I'm getting for things.
There was no reserve, but I decided to put everything up at 99p start. Perhaps a bad idea. I'm sure someone would have taken the bait with a £49.99 start, but its no longer my problem to worry about, I'm happy to have gotten £25 for it instead of £2.20.

I would try a practical 'toe in the water' exercise with all ten, and decide which combination suits you best.
I have presented a whole parcel of coins to be broken into lots, to be sold at a traditional auction.
I have also sent a job lot of coins to be sold on commission at a coin shop, to be sold as individual pieces.
Only about 90% of my coins were sold over a six months period. They formed the start of my current collection.
I decided that I was not prepared to sell some items of significant value for less than a reserve amount. Still, about 90% of these sold.
That was a long time (decades) ago. In today's current pricing, the value of the coins sold would have been in the vicinity of $30,000. I needed the money for a deposit on our first house. You can't put a roof over your head with a stack of rare coins!
I made a reasonable profit on the coins that actually sold. They had been part of my collection for a period of 3-12 years before that.
Above all take your time, and put as much effort into selling them as you did acquiring them in the first place.
