Sorry, I can't identify its specific type as I don't collect these and am pretty new to ancients in general. I have seen a few of these though, and if genuine, this is a pretty darn nice coin!

Hope someone else hear can attribute it for you!

The coin is Sasanian and could be Khurso I but I can't be 100% sure. These coins are a bit difficult to ID. Here is a good reference for these type of coins. http://www.grifterrec.com/coins/coins.html Look under the Sasanian Empire section.

Btw, all, as Masis and I have both noted today, in a thread over at Forum, Tom Mallon's site "The Coins and History of Asia" - this is the wonderful site that echizento references above - is now down. Tom passed away in January, so it's not clear if the site will be back.

oh no! I knew the website owner was ill, but didn't know he died. I'm very sorry to hear it. I didn't know him, but his webpage on asian coins was fantastic, I don't know how many times I went to it to research thing. it hope someone can take it over and keep it going.

I mentioned in the "Parthian" thread over on Forum Ancient Coins that I had learnt "from another coin forum" about Tom being ill.

I'd learnt this from chrsmat71.

I have searched through Forum for any mention of the passing away of Tom.

Either I wrote "Tom Mallon" wrong or there does not seem to be any record of a mention of the passing of Tom there.

His site was a very user friendly and informative site.
