I found this auction on E-bay

http://cgi.ebay.com/2007-AMERICAN-S...KE_W0QQitemZ a href= https://www.coincommunity.com/go/link.asp?target=https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/270148346169 target= _blank rel= nofollow 270148346169 /a QQihZ017QQcategoryZ39488QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I was under the impression that TGP could only designate a First strike?
My second question is how can a TGP really grade and slab coins as a first strike? Is there a magic die mark they see under magnification that lets them know it's a first strike or is the first strike thing a bunch of you know what?

Anyway should I report this seller as improper title because the coin is not slabbed and designated as a first strike?

Educate me, please.

It is my understanding that "First Strike" is based on the date labeled on the mint packaging, the date postmarked as being sent from the mint, or the date sent in to the grading service. Technically this seller, as well as any TPG, could arbitrarily label or market their wares as First Strike, Last Strike, or anything in between?

Thanks Benji,
You answered my questions by the link you provided because it lead to another link. So I sent the seller this question.

I was curious as to how you can designate this Silver Eagle as a "1st Strike" since here's the criteria for a first strike. http://www.pcgs.com/firststrike/

I will post the sellers response.

You will have to remember that PCGS, ICG, NGC, and almost all other TPGs have their own separate criteria for designating "First Strike," "Early Release," or "Early Strike." There is no universal designation in place...only marketing gimmicks to create revenue. In my opinion this seller is no different than any of the TPGs. ..."if you can't beat'em; join'em" mentality.

It is likely that the seller does "receive 2500 eagles the first week of january every year" or GREEN MONSTERS (However, I doubt he is a "wizard," he may be suffering from the HARRY POTTER fever). He just cut out the middle man ( TPG) to add to his bottom line.
