Quote: If this trend continues the TPGs will need to make the slabs bigger to hold all the stickers! And stickers for the stickers.

^^ YES!
I have been real happy with my CAC stickered coins. I am fairly new to this so maybe its helpful for that reason- but in reality my CAC coins have had better eye appeal then the others, and it helps when buying online.
But having another company doing it is just confusing..

David Lawrence uses an interesting scale for eye appeal and toning: --- Only David Lawrence Rare Coins offers our own eye appeal rating for our coins. This unique star-rating system gives you a very quick reference as to the aesthetic beauty of a coin in your hand. Every coin is considered for its rating by 2 or more senior staff numismatists to ensure accuracy. The best looking coins are awarded 5 stars (). These coins exhibit exceptional eye appeal for a coin of its grade in comparison with its peers in the same series. A majority of our coins are awarded 4 stars for above-average eye appeal (). We seek 4-star or finer coins for our inventory, and we believe you will find that these exceed the standard of average coins of this series and grade. We assign 3 stars () to coins of "average" eye appeal. You will find these coins to be consistent with typical eye appeal within the series and assigned grade. Coins of inferior eye appeal are assigned 2 () or 1 star (). The coins should be acquired at bargain prices. --- On a scale from 1 to 10, toning is indicated blast white to black as coal. While subjective, I find it an honest attempt. Example: http://www.davidlawrence.com/invent...imes-&-DimesSee upper right hand corner.

The people who sell coins for a living are always looking for an additional revenue stream....

What it seems to me is that PQ is just trying to make money for something that isn't really necessary. BUT the sticker does look good and people would most likely pay the extra premium for it.
The idea of CAC was successful. They got people to pay extra because the coin got the sticker.
Of course these coins do look better than others and probably should have a small premium.

It is yet another BS gimmick. I do not give cac coins more "credit" nor will these new stickers make a coin worth more to me. It's bad enuff so many dealers sell slabs - now they get more gimmicks to mark up coins for - I can judge how good they look for myself! I tend to eliminate coins with gimmicks because sellers price them ridiculously high and buyers "fall for" the sucker game and drive prices on them up as well. LOSE-LOSE for most collectors. That David Lawrence write-up is interesting. Mainly because I find their coins to be "poor" looking typically - compared to what I am looking for. Their buffs always seem to have fugly toning and their gold has lustre and clean-look issues. Whoever their supplier is funnels a lot of garbage their way, IMO! So, if they are only buying 4-5 stars, I'd hate to see what they consider a 1. I have bought from them once off of ebay. But 1 out of maybe 500 I've looked at, between ebay and their auctions, is a pretty poor %.

The purpose of slabs isn't always just to tell you how nice your coin is. Many just send their coins to be authenticated, grading is just a plus.

We've all seen coins slabbed by the major TPGs poorly graded. Everyone makes mistakes. A CAC sticker adds an added level of confidence for the buyer. I get it. If all one wants to consider when buying a coin is the TPG grade + CAC + (insert another sticker hawker's sticker here), it's not a bad way to go. Seriously.

I don't mind the green beans, a lot of my Morgans are beaned, but then again... I mainly buy colorful toners which are more often than not beaned. It's getting harder and harder to find non beaned toners... Let alone raw... Which I prefer... But I'll tell you what, I have more than a few that have a green bean that I believe should be gold as they're definitely undergraded.. But hey, everyone make mistakes. There's the company "WINGS" as well... so there's three now...heck, send them to the TPG'er... Then all three companies and take an an average of the results, lol... You wont even be able to read the label.

I wasn't implying wings was a fraudulent company or anything negitive, only that there's others out there that do the same sort off thing as CAC. And if memory serves me I remember the other posts about them, I fact I've brought them up before, maybe in one of those links, lol. And again, "if" memory serves me they only do world coins, not US while CAC only does US... But don't quote me on that, lol.

Just a quick post...
Some of you are saying you won't pay a premium for a nicer coin. So you mean you want a coin that barely makes the grade or do you want one that almost makes the next grade and it's the same grade as the barely grade one but just for a small premium?

Sorry, I was not implying that you were implying anything. I just wanted people to know there has been some discussion before, and that one of their managers ( MightyMikeMIami) has made himself available to the community for questions. That is all.
