My guess it that it's Swedish, judging by the fonts, but I've been searching Google for DAYS and I am coming up empty.

I'm thinking German States, probably Bavaria.

Yep, Bavaria 1 pfennig. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be blank on the other side.

The arms of Bavaria are pretty recognizable. Even today...

I'm certainly not going to argue with y'alls, since if I knew what I was doing, I wouldn't be asking questions here, but are y'alls 100% sure it's Bavarian? I can't seem to find a single reference or picture on the internet of this coin. I can't believe I have the only surviving one. I also can't seem to find an arms picture similar to the one on the coin, even though it does seem like it's Bavaria.

Does anyone know where I could see another one like that one I have?

And if I didn't say it before, I'll say it now: Thanks for all the input, guys/gals. This coin is really driving me nuts. :)

Yes it is Bavaria, and yes, supposed to be uniface. Not sure why it's hard to find a picture online, but coins of this series are not uncommon. Yours is most certainly not the only one that survived lol

Please, someone send me a URL with some information and a picture of this coin. It would help me sleep at night. :-)

Unfortunartely, the Krause catalogue entry for it, as transposed onto the NGC database page, does not have a picture. But we can show you pictures of very similar coins from around the same time period. Here's one from 1749 in nice condition that sold for 20 euros. Here's one from 1725 that didn't sell on ebay for 99 cents; Another ebay from 1693 that did sell, for $1.79.

OK, so after looking around, I'm in total agreement with y'alls about the coin. It is, indeed, a 1721 Bavarian Pfennig. Now here's the $100,000.00 question: Is it worth anything in it's current condition? Or should it go back in a drawer for 25 more years?

Scratches aside it's in good shape. Practical value around $10. Doubtful 25 years in a drawer would make a difference, the coin is already nearly 300 years old.

300 years old. That's insane just thinking about it. :)

1 Pfennig is now worth $10. I wish all my investments were this good. :) That's better than 100 shares of Microsoft stock bought in the '80s.

Once again, thanks to all of you for your help. I do have another unknown coin I will posting in the next day or so.
