Hi there, I have a couple of small gold coins in my collection that I have no idea about. I was wondering if any of you guys might be able to shed some light on them?
The first one is george II, it looks like a hammered coin, it weighs 2.2g is 28mm in diameter and I believe is gold plated. The second one is a victoria young head it weighs 1.7g is 19mm in diameter and is not magnetic.

Both are just plated replicas. Very crude too. Sorry.

Very, very crude replicas. Victoria's head obverse with a Austrian-looking two-headed eagle reverse?

Edit: Austria and Germany. Two very different countries with different coat of arms.

Although the coat of arms on the second piece is Austrian, not German, the two objects are nevertheless of German origin. They are card-game counters. Neither are technically "replicas", since there are no genuine coins with these designs. They are both made of gilt or brass, not gold.

Thanks for the quick reply. Nothing to be sorry for as neither cost me a penny. the hammered one I found in a tin of old coins my Nan gave to me nearly 30 years ago. A coin dealer here in jersey told me 20years ago it was a replica but was gold plated he offered me £250 for it back then. So there is either something to it or I should have bitten his hand off and the second was given to me by an antique dealer recently, I said I would do some research on it and let him know, job done.
Thanks again will post up some pics of my real coins soon before I am laughed off the forum
