I can't tell much from the given pictures but it looks like the plating is gone from that area leaving the zinc core exposed. VC will help stop the corrosion process but I don't think it will remove anything...hard to tell from the pics.

My coin is in a lot worst condition then the one sold. I asked BJ Neff to look at it in hand and tell me what he thought it was worth. He said because of the condition it might be worth $25.
