I have heard of people manufacturing die clips on punch presses.
Any way to tell if this is real? the cut is aged as the rest of the coin.

Looks good to me.
The raised parts next to the clip look weak.

I can't see if there's a Blakesley effect.
You can check if the rim opposite to the clip is slightly weak. If it is, then it's genuine.

Not all clips show the blakesley effect. My guess is that its real looking at the dove tailing of the rim edges.

I have worked in a shop before and a punch usually makes a clean cut, and the fact that it looks like it was pinched made me think it could be real.
It's the first I've seen for real.

It's legit.
Nice find!
Has nothing to do with the die, the planchet was clipped before the coin was anywhere near the die.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...
