Is it possible to restore the date on a dateless SLQ, or any silver coins other than nickels?
I've heard that someone destroyed half of an SLQ while trying to restore the date, so my hopes aren't high.

Unlike nickel coins I don't believe there's any etching chemical for silver coins.

Yeah, that was probably me. I think what I said was that I turned it into a 14 cent piece. I had it suspended in nitric acid and it completely dissolved about 1/3 of the coin.

I tried my best to bring back the dates with nitric acid but only achieved very limited success. So limited as to not be worth doing...

Yep, I remember that "14 cent piece" thing from some time ago.
I guess there's no way to save the SLQs from being a melt-value, dateless coin....
