Hello,

I just picked this bill up at a yard sale and wondered if it is rare or not.

I did some research on the net and found someone saying that red seal Hawaiian bills did not print after 1923. Is this correct?

What type of grade and retail value would one place on this bill?

Thanks,
mdpmedia

This bill appears to worn only because the guy I bought it from had glued it onto the cardboard backboard within a picture glass frame.

It was a nightmare removing it without tearing it more.

Here's the reverse:

It is actually a brown seal.

They were first issued in June of 1942 and continued to be issued until October of 1944. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii_overprint_note

I don't think it could be called rare as 10 million were printed originally. Nonetheless, it is still a desirable note.

Grade wise I'm thinking VG-8. No idea on value though.
