The mint mark can be found to the left of the date. The picture is to blurry to make it out but possibly looks like a D. It's status during the 1940's as a U.S. Commonwealth was similar to that of Puerto Rico and the Northern Mariana Islands. Before that it was a territory, much like Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
