..is it just me? Something about it just doesn't look right, but then again I'm no expert on old copper. Any thoughts?

I'm no expert on old copper either but it looks fine to me, I mean apart from the crazy amount of PVC Damage.

As mentioned in the ad, the coin has been cleaned (harshly, I might add). You didn't say why it doesn't look right. At the risk of stating the obvious, the copper is unnaturally bright due to the cleaning.

Heavy corrosion, harsh cleaning and about $600 over-priced, other than that, it's fine. lol

My personal take on coins like this: The corrosion, and even more so the cleaning, would nag at me very shortly after adding it to my collection, and I would soon try to unload it, probably at a big loss.

I wasn't planning on buying this one, but I did find it while looking for a large cent for my 7070 album. Just thought it looked a little "off". Thanks for the replies.

The picture makes the whole obverse appear doubled?

Looks alright at first glance.

Now the price, that is another matter. S-155 is R-3 (not particularly scarce even). Cleaned, pitted and corroded......

Someone wiped out the cleaning supplies aisle at Walmart, and used every single different chemical on this coin simultaneously. And pneumatic tools, too.

And still didn't get the verdigris.
