I have a draped bust half that I bought a few years back. 1806, looks real enough, VG-10 using PCGS Photograde. Has the edge lettering and everything, details are very much comparable to graded examples, doesn't show any of the usual sgins of counterfeiting. However, I just got a coin-weighing pocket scale that I ordered and when I weighed the coin, the resulting weight was 13.08, approximately 0.4g underweight. Should I be concerned?

Would that much silver be lost through wear? Sounds like a pretty well-circulated coin.

3% underweight for a coin at VG level of wear is a bit much but not cause for alarm if all else appears to be in order.

Thanks. My thoughts too. I'll post a grading thread tomorrow to validate the coin.
