Thanks Jack for posting these fantastic pics. I really like the gilded and color eagles. The silver plated ship is also very nice. It's great to see pics of coins in hand. They often look much better than mint pictures. I'd rather make a purchase after seeing a real photo. It's too bad the mint doesn't use real photos.

I don't like the lay-out of the eagles - the ones with a horizon visible. If the Horizon is level, the writing is off kilter - you would think they would have engraved everything to line up to the line. Just seems funny to me.

@Dcadon: Interesting observation, maybe it was done to allow for slightly larger depictions of the eagles on the coins.

Or, maybe it's just a case of "artistic license"!

In any case, the layout doesn't bother me.

For what its worth, last year's "Returning from the Hunt" Bald Eagle coin used the same orientation for the inscriptions.
