I am looking at a 1988 American Silver Eagle Proof and came across this PCGS special label. It's called a "Bald Eagle" label, but doesn't have any context.

I know PCGS does a lot of designer labels and I can usually find information on them. This one is a bit of an enigma, can someone shed some light?

It's just a label they did for the silver eagles.

I have a West point set that has it.

I've seen that label before... The Bald Eagle Label is different. It has a large picture of an Eagle on the front with a flag in the background. The Eagle is front-facing and centered on the label; the text under the Eagle says, "American Eagle". The coin information is on the back label (where the holographic "PCGS" normally is). I'll try to post a picture of an example...

I know PCGS does that... is there any way to get information on who submitted and how many of the special labels there are?

I'm working on a PCGS type set of PR-70 ASEs with a variety of different labels. I've got every variety of PCGS label from Doily's to 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge. They all seem fairly common, until this one. I'm fairly high on the OC scale, but not enough to want all the labels to be the same... well, not yet.

Have you gotten the gold and silver foil labels? APMEX has a label of their own on their website, too.

I'm not big on variety labels but that one is pretty cool. I've never seen that one before either.

I've never seen it either, but it's just another novelty label.

Does PCGS post information about novelty labels, or do they just print them and run them out the door?
