I see similar issues to the east of IB on CC here: http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...1do008ea.jpg
but I'm not convinced. Is it PMD? but I don't see damage in close proximity....

MD? But, my (yet) untrained eye doesn't see a reduction in device size... in fact, is that extra thickening to the B?

John1 it looks like the "B" is damaged, but isn't there a northeast spread on "I, E, and R"? Maybe on the "L" too? And if there is, could that mean the "B" is spread too?

That B does look like it took a ding, but there appears to be a spread there also.

It looks like die wear. Note how the area is not smooth? It is irregular in shape. The die was in pretty bad shape when this coin was struck. I had a 1984 once that was submitted to me with a spread northward, it was deemed die wear. I check other examples and had a half roll that some show this as well.

So it may be common on some years. But the die state of the above example is earlier and not showing the die wear that we see on most coins. So I feel the OP's coin is a normal coin in VLDS. Some contact marks are seen, but no hub doubling.

Its PMD, along with 32 years of circulation.

The 1982 year - the year of your coin - should show SIGNIFICANT thickness on LIBERTY, almost twice as thick and at the same height. Your coin unfortunately suffers from damage and is jagged and not at the same height across the board.

For example, look at this LIBERTY;
