Hi

Firstly let me introduce myself. I'm Rick and I have, for the last few weeks been collecting the Olympic 50ps. However the bug has caught and I'm now building up a collection of decimal UK coins (£2, £1, 50p... 1p).
I need some help though. I've just bought the WH Smith coin collecting refill sheets and am disappointed as 1) the sheets don't fit in a normal 4 ring binder which means costs, and 2) the refill sheets are not clear and you have to view the coins through two layers of plastic.

So, what do you folks recommend I use to store my "collection"? What do you use? What are the options and costs?

I have The Royal Mint £2, £1 and Olympic folders but am looking for something to store and view the whole range eg all the circulated 1p/2p/5p/10p/20p coins from 1971 to present.

Thanks in advance

to CCF!

I'm not too familiar with Modern UK Coins. I'll let the UK Members step in.

WHSmiths have two different types of folder, the A4 size and then a smaller one. The A4 size has coin pockets that have 4 different slots and are wider than the smaller ones too.

I use a combination of both. My bigger collections go in the big folder and bits and pieces go in the smaller folders.

However, these plastic holders are made of the right stuff. Ie, if you get any old thing, it will destroy some of your coins. So the holders are generally good quality, hence why they cost a bit. But if you want to have everything set out and looking nice, then you either go with that, or there's another way which involves putting your coins into a small square cardboard thing with a window made of plastic on either side. I don't really like those, many coins you can buy come in them, and I take them out.
