Nickel, the metal, is rising quickly this morning. It has been on a steady rise lately but now makes each nickel worth 9.2 cents each(of course it is changing constantly but has been mostly up). If you have been hoarding those nickels(pre-1982)it may be time to cash in. Prices may continue to rise so watch the moves and cash out when it is to your advanage. Good luck.

and where do you suggest unloading them. As we can't melt them in Canada, thanks

actually Nickel has been skyrocketing since early March.
Its in a solid strong uptrend. While I wouldn't be a buyer at these high levels, the probabilities are very high that it continues its uptrend.
What would be ideal in the price action is to expect some sort of pull back, basing and then the price runs highers.
Again, sweet beautiful uptrend thats been running for a few months, building on its gains and running higher each time after it pulls back.
THATS how you buy! :D
If you own nickel coins, I would be against unloading, or only selling partials. higher prices are NOT a sign to rush out and sell... remember an uptrend can last for a while so dont miss out on profits for being in a hurry to sell

Yummy, I like nickel, I have a small hoard of 1 oz nickel coins and Canadian nickels, nice to see something on the upward trend for a change.

Just for the record, I am holding onto mine. I know there aremany forum members looking for quick turnover cash to buy other things. I was just passing along the info. I don't know what to tell our brothers and sisters to the north about cashing them out but in the U.S. we can melt them. I am sure there are some dealers in Canada willing to pay near spot metal prices for them. By the way, this price rise just pushed U.S. nickels above the five cent mark in metal value.

Yea nickel is going much higher. What I thought was very interesting was the price action on 5/8.... it gapped up, jumped and held that gap. It continues to plow into new yearly highs, thus securing the uptrend.
These trends are super powerful and they cut both ways. I would expect nickel to keep this uptrend going, some pull backs until it runs out of steam.
anyways, if you have been hoarding nickels, again I say, do not move to sell, allow the trend to run its course.
Finally, do not be shocked or surprised by wild crazy moves to the downside, as these violent pull backs can and will occur in commodities, and they do happen even in uptrends.

Wow!.. that's good news, I was offered .07 cents each not too long ago from a Canadian dealer, with my 40+ rolls I will probably hold on to them for a bit...

I´m holding onto mine so that when the crazies melt their coins I still have some to enjoy and pass down to deserving folk. Imagine a world without pre-1951 nickels, I´d go nuts probably, moreso.
To anyone who can answer: why do you believe there is such a demand for nickel right now? Not since the Korean War has there been such an insane need for steel. In WWII there was so much demand for nickel that Canada had to change the 5-cent composition just to keep up. And then, a little outburst in Korea provoked the same response - just picture that - a world war compared to a regional one had the same reaction. Today who knows what´s in store for the world. Maybe Japan is building crazy(er) robots lol.

Is nickel very important in weapons? I thought copper and steel were more useful?

@Libertad-
really its simple.. supply and demand. anyone else who says otherwise is going to be wrong. sure you will hear about this blah blah and how its being used for that la la la, but in reality no one really is exactly sure why.
therefore, there is more demand than there is supply of nickel right now.

... and as I had thought, because of the rapid and parabolic move in nickel, we would get our pull back.
Nothing really abnormal.. in fact its healthy and will let us gauge how strong demand is as it pulls back.
do not be in a hurry to dump your nickel.

As many have been doing - just holding on to nickels. Back a couple yrs. ago a nickel had almost double face in metal value. I remember Kyle Bass investing in 1 million dollars in nickels.

still in an uptrend here... however past few weeks the bounces have been really anemic. if nickel can hold around here and just chop and go sideways that would be great....
