No problem at all with buying a lot of items at wholesale price and then selling to the Customer at retail. Me, as a buyer, can't buy wholesale and I'm only interested in a single item anyway.
A better analogy would be if the poor mom and dad shop owner goes to Wal-mart at 7h59am, on day of release, to buy (at retail price) ALL of the hottest Christmas season toy. They then sell their loot to captive parents (who happened to work at 7h59am) at thrice the price in their "Mom and Dad" shop. Of course Mom and Dad had to work a little to do that but, for me as a consumer, they're nothing more than parasites who doesn't add any value since it would have been as easy for me (and less costly) to go to Wal-mart and buy the toy at retail if Mom & Dad didn't already bought them all.
That being said, nothing personnal against anyone on this forum since I will sometime, myself, buy one or two extra coin to flip if I think the item has growth value potential. But I don't delude myself thinking I do someone a "service" by doing that!
Thecurse9: You're absolutely right about that if some one did that with a child's toy. Or if we lived in a communist country and someone was hoarding all the bread and milk and selling for a higher price.
But in this case were talking about luxury items. This is a limited edition collectors Superman coin. Appealing to superman fans etc.
I don't know if some dealers or reps were able to hoard some not sure if that's right. But I think the RCM process for selling these was pretty fair. Only 2000 were made.
I managed to get one and I decided to flip it if I can.
Worst case scenario for me is I'll sell it or return to the mint.
Anyone who has any suggestions as to what I should do with my coin please let me know.
@DragonMaster: IMO, there is a lot of options between worst and best case scenario...
If your only option is to bring it back at the mint, I'm sure someone local would buy it from you in a minute at $100-$200 over retail. He would probably flip it back on ebay for another $200-$300 more the next day but you'd still be ahead vs bringing it back at the mint.
You think its a flop, you ordered anyways and want to unload as soon as possible. Is this what NCLTs been reduced to? What happened to the actual collecting, and making informed decisions about future value?

I think it is the producers duty to enable access to goods by real customers. My analogy is concert tickets. Personally, I think only 50% of the available tickets should be allowed to be purchased online for the first week of sale, and that all tickets should be imprinted with the purchasers name, with ID required on entry. This would kill the despicable scalping business.
In terms of the mint, I think 50% of the total mintage maximum should be available to master club members, with the other 50% being reserved for Canada Post and the general public.

I think most of them went to dealers and some lucky master club members. Even the Vancouver Boutique did not receive any.

You did forget the dealers. But in general, I would also like this concept. Plus mandatory limit 1 per member/household.
Actually, also wouldn't harm to set mintage as half from current mintages. With so many coins released, nothing will be wrong, if someone couldn't get some item....
Hi Folks, Superman is not for me, I have not read all of this form. As I scanned I saw some comments that these are sold out. As I write this (12:15 Friday Sept 5th) Silver Gold Bull has at least one of the silver coins available: Action Comics# 419 Silver Coin at $89.95. Hope this helps cheers Liverpool

I went to a concert a couple of years ago (Springsteen) and for some sections, you had to present the credit card used to buy the tickets in order to be admitted. They had hand held scanners that then printed out your tickets. The technology definitely exists to curb ticket reselling by individuals and big companies like StubHub etc.
