@ Mlalonde1977, I completely agree with you. The RCM is doing to coin collecting what Canada Post did to stamp collecting many years ago. It's really a shame! With regard to you not purchasing any coins in the last six months, je crois que vous avez faites la bonne decision. I have also significantly cut down on my purchases, as have many others here on the forum.

Almost picked up 2010 lunar tiger today. Had it in my cart but I was trying to find something else. By the time I tried to checked it out, it was sold. It's the only coin I am missing in my RCM lunar series.

I bought after winning an auction on ebay from CA,,, looks good, packed well. Tho nothing would surprise me and I think Allspice makes a good point. I gotta say, tho, I was happy with the Untamed Pronghorn silver coin I got, god I am going to miss that series... the designs were new and excited. I just LOVE how the Pronghorn just stares at you lol

Well... It seems that $2,000 per year purchases is now needed to get VIP status at CA...

Weel, if it's true, then I'm not a VIP customer anymore... They don't deserve my money with their way of product launching...

MC Status and getting a Rep only give you early notice of new coins. Pretty useless given you could now buy coins cheaper elsewhere.
Why can't the Mint give MC members some sort of discount? Say 5% like Gatewest Coins.

I haven't heard anything yet. IMO, a 5% discount is not going to motivate any sane person to spend 2 grand every year for regularly prices coins (especially when they all go on sale eventually).

@CC-Ottawa: I reached over $1,000 with my last purchase and I emailed them about it last weekend. They got back to me this morning and told me that $2,000 was now needed to get VIP status...

thanks for the reply. Wow, that's nuts especially when GW give the equivalent 5% on many of their coins to anyone regardless of what they spend.

I have vip status at CA. Had to hit 2,000 which is easy because they have sales all the time but honestly the discount rarely ever applies. It only works on new or full priced items which I guess is better then nothing.
Like stated above though new items now go on sale for 20% and black Friday is another big one. With the new trend it looks like everything will still be available at the end of the year. Who knows with the over stocked inventory there may be a sale before black friday.

Now this is what I call a sale. Great thing if you want to buy coins... but otherwise, this is an eye-opener on real value of RCM products.
