Spent the past 30 minutes trying to navigate this 'sale'. They have everything mixed together (items on sale and items at regular price) so you have to go through all the multiple screens in search of the coins on sale. And they aren't even well identified as being on sale. Added: ok went through pages and pages and found some good discounts. Many of them are even more than 20%. Definitely both a bit sad and glad to see these deep discounts.

I don't think I could make a stronger case for how the RCM has over-saturated the NCLT market and how generally poor the ROI is on its modern products. As many have said here, collect because you enjoy the coin(s) not for investment purposes. If CA can sell the coins at such low prices, you can only imagine what they would pay a collector looking to sell them!

Yeah, but at the same time you can imagine the % or profit they make if they can offer 20% discount plus free shipping.

Thanks for the heads up. I was able to add some missing coins to complete a set. It will easier if you know what coin your looking for.
I'm not sure what to make of the big sale. A lot of the prices are similar to their bi weekly sales.

I just finished looking through the sale and added about 50 items to my wish list. It's just in case I come up with extra money before the sale ends. I was also amazed by how many popular coins they're looking to buy. It seems the popular coins are still in demand. The only variable is the asking price. I do agree the mint is drowning collectors with coins. I had to cancel this years subscriptions, because a more impressive coin was offered. I figure I will wait for sales to acquire the coins I want. It's obvious dealers get a good discount, too bad the mint doesn't offer periodic sales to its loyal collectors. I believe there will always be people who will want to buy the coin as soon as it's released. This is opposed to waiting for a sale opportunity.

Ya I suppose there will be but not as many as the last few years though, as for me I will only be interested in the lower mintage coins that I like and wont bother with anything 10k and above as you can pick them up later at a discount so it seems, 20 percent off is a big savings.

will agree with Northerncoins but need to add, that sometimes it could be the issue with "pre-owned" coins. Some people could call "mint condition" for the item, that it could be not acceptable for you. **Added: Makes me sick to see how much money could be saved, buying now from C/A. And in addition - too many and for sale - they've just lost their value...

I would guess all these coins are wholesale bought not customer bought. 20% + shipping would be close to break even. Basically it's getting rid of stale stock.

There is a good reason the RCM makes very little profit for a company with basically a monopoly position, 1.5% profit and most of it in the bullion department and their ETF funds. I hear the largest dealers get 30% discounts that's 30.00 on an average coin, no wonder some dealers are offering these discounts on slower moving items.

I'm sure that CA isn't break even, even with 20%+free shipping it's just less profit and we also have to take in consideration all the coins they sold at issue price. The real market price of the silver and gold gives RCM a big premium gap when selling his coins so they can offer nice discounts to dealers.

Yeah, CA is probably getting rid of some stock. I've dealt with CA in the past, and was not happy with the quality of their products. Often they are second hand, anywhere from dings on cases, to scratches and milk/tone spots on the coins, and even damaged semi-numismatic bullion. I'd buy with caution and ask for a photo of the actual coins you're buying rather than taking a chance on a possible return. Just my experience... good luck!

Yeah, that happened to me before so my experience with CA is mixed. And I personally found GW keep their stock in much better condition. If price are close between CA and GW, I will buy from GW.

Good to see this kind of sale. If you're a wise customer, you can now say goodbye to the RCM and wait for sale like that. Except for coins with limited mintage... The RCM looks like the Canada Post when the Stamp collecting was popular, they release so much stamp, so much anything that they kill the hobby for lots of collector. Thins happen to me with coins either... They try to get so much dollar in my pocket that I decide it was enough... It make 6 months since I don't buy anything from the RCM and with this kind of sale, I make a good decision...

The fact that in the last few years the RCM is making about 1.5% profit with a monopoly business model and most of the profits comes from the bullion and etf divisions. One can conclude that with NCLT coins that the large dealers with their massive discounts makes most of the money fron these coin sales. Colonial I believe is not even a RCM dealer, and yet they can have these sales and make a profit. If the RCM lowered both the dealer discount and listed prices, they might have higher profits, I don't think any coin dealer can survive on 1.5% profit margins
