Hello,

I recently acquired a Russia 1 Kopek 1689/1725, better known as a "wire kopek", but I can't seem to find it in either my 17th or 18th century Krause catalogs. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Kleshchinov and Grishin's book "Determinant of the Obverses of the Wire Kopecks of Tsar Peter Alexeivitch" is better, and it attributes the reverses as well. Alex Basok sells copies for about $15. This is the most useful reference on Petrine wire coinage, it's a little thin book and it's in Russian, but is pretty simple to get through with basic Russian skills.
Melnikova's book is the old standard, and Grishin and Kleshchinov have come out with a whole series of books on wire kopecks which are the new standard from Ivan to Peter. Alex Basok and Dmitry Markov usually have them in stock, and they're in English.
KM is useless for wire coinage.
