Hi there,

I have been lurking in the shadows for a few months, but I found something CRH I could use a little expert perspective on. The reverse is perfectly normal; ignore the distortion from my camera.

I like that it says "BERTY". If it is a rare variety I think we should name it the BERTY-199. Either way I think I will keep it for fun!

I think it's Struck Through Grease.

One cent. When the Grease Filled Dies are blocking more stuff, then they are collectable. Believe it or not I found one of these years ago.

to the CCF.

The coin is certainly interesting ... known as ' Struck Through Grease' is the generic description for examples missing parts of the design as a result crud getting between the die and planchet.

Value depends on the amount of normal detail missing ... in your case little detail but an interesting example.

This is not a rare 'retire now' coin ... perhaps valued at maybe 25 cents if you could somehow find the collector searching for these.

Most serious collectors find these at face value ... so true value is one cent.
