I bought my first two proof coins a few days ago. They're both raw, but in very good condition ('58 Franklin half and 2014 Kennedy half).

Right now I have each of them in it's own coin flip with one layer of bubble wrap taped around it.

I don't feel like that's a full proof damage protection though.

What would be a better way to keep them safe? Hopefully there's some way to keep them very safe and protected and still be able to look at then without spending a fortune?

A 2x2 by itself is just fine. Make sure you keep it in a dry, cool envorinment and not near anything that could cause the metal to react or tone (Like in a gun safe or near anything that emits an odor). Keep it in regular 2x2 pages or a 2x2 album.
Rest in Peace

Also flatten the staples on the 2 x 2 with smooth jaw plier unless you use a flat sinch stapler.
