The only reason I found it easy to vote was because of my Fake £1 collecting....
but there's something I look for in every denomination.

I've been back in the UK a few weeks, and off again in a couple of weeks, and been hunting 50ps, found one in a bag my mum had, a girl guide one, since then NOTHING. Every time I go in and make sure I get 50p in change it's just a normal one, or even 20ps and 10ps. Driving me crazy.

But it's 50ps I've been looking at, a lot more than 2 pound coins, I don't know why. I don't collect by year, except for 1 pound coins, so the 1 and 2 pound coins would come next.

Hunting 50p coins can be at times , I understand your augsberger. Its a shame you will be off in a few weeks because soon enough those Glasgow Commonwealth games 50p coins should be out .....

Interestingly enough there are still some Olympics 50p coins in circulation and having recently got one I think there are some people who are dumping a few back into circulation. How big is your 50p collection ?

Best of luck with your 50p hunts

I have been collecting 50ps for some time now..my board is here:

https://goccf.com/t/177859

There was a time when I went to the bank and withdrew large quantities of 50ps in order to get new designs...those days have long gone now however and I'm refining my collection - looking for better examples. I voted 50p as I've always liked the shape and over the years the commemorative designs have shown an insight into what people deem important

Well, my collection was up to date about 3 years ago, with the exception of the EU large 50p, that changed when I left the country and I haven't got much in. Those people who could help me, don't seem to care. Oh well.

Thats a great choice Steve, 2p coins are always fascinating to get and look through because of the interesting tones, colours and stains many acquire from their travels I am thinking of starting a collection of 2p coins with interesting tones & colourations

I like the 50 pence with the Olympic games but also the 2 pound and 20 pence.
These three are my favorite decimal coins.

I vote for ... the 20 pence :)

I voted 20p because I go to the bank and get some bags of 20ps out and search them for errors varieties and the elusive and extremely scammed on ebay, the undated 20p

Fascinating stuff, have you had any luck finding dateless 20p in bank bags ? I have almost given up on that one myself after going through tonnes of 20p coins !

What sort of error & varieties have you found in 20p coins?

I feel that 20p coins would have been a lot more fascinating if they had different reverses (kinda like Isle of Man 20p coins) instead of the measly 2 reverses we currently have ..
