Unless it's a silver dollar or something else similarly bulky/heavy which bumps it up to $2.

Do you have to ask for the Combined somehow..because The bay herself sends some of the invoices (Without the combined discount)..Or just make sure to wait a bit or what?

Every day after all the auctions have finished, asyn sends the combined invoice. You can accumulate items max. during 7 days.

halfdollardan, generally to ship one coin within Canada, it can be done for 85 cents, plus tax, plus the envelope and shipping materials. So that would be $1 to $1.15 depending on the province's tax rate. The same lettermail envelope to the US would be about $1.50 and International $3. Technically coins aren't paper and so Canada Post may not accept them as lettermail, but this is overlooked by >90% of their employees. A one ounce coin (properly packed), can be done for roughly $2.50 Canada, $4 US, $6.50 Int'l. It'd be a little cheaper in Alberta where the tax rate is only 5%.

If you do not effectively cover your costs in any business, you are doomed to failure. Also if you are not getting proper money for your product (as ASYN is on more than a few of their lots)that is strike two. Shipping and handling is not cheap in Canada or for that matter many other countries. The US stands out as an exception, as their postal costs and transportation costs are below those of the rest of the world. A great many Canadian sellers offer combined shipping and are willing to work with repeat customers to make the ebay experience pleasurable for all. We have been selling successfully on ebay since 2001 and it is for the most part 99.99 % a very good experience. ASYN like many sellers are fine tuning their business ,so they can continue to be a success in these tough economic times. As a fellow eBayer we wish them well.

Canada Post lost $129 million in its last quarter. In its last quarter, the USPS managed to lose $354 million - the 19th of the last 21 quarters that it has sustained a loss. Clearly that is not a business model to follow, although Canada Post's model of raising rates and cutting back service is hardly any better. You can hardly blame asyn for charging for shipping - he must have been taking a loss, especially since the rates went up... again.
The only good thing about it all is that even the postal workers have realized it would be insane to try going out on strike. Which is not to say that they won't. When it comes to cutting off your nose to spite your face, labour unions have shown little hesitation in doing just that.

I wonder how this will affect business on lower valued items or the ones with original packaging? I know I will be buying less, as bargains will be very few now. I'm surprised they didn't put shipping a single coin at $1.50 within Canada. I guess their competitive edge is gone. I know this will make many sellers, who complained about not being able to compete with them happy.

I was hoping this would happen. I always buy in bulk from asyn, it will be nice to get a discount.

Another change to how they're doing things to be aware of. Quote: FYI, Starting from tonight <20 May 2014>, we are moving our entire Canadian individual coin listing to our asynpm a/c. asyn will only handle bulky large size item.

They must not want to ship to the US, check shipping on this item & others. 301188283983Things seem a little topsy-turvy there now, how long before they straighten it all out.

$95.. for an empty folder!! That's hilarious! They must REALLY not want to ship to very large markets... I'm sure it's just a glitch .... with them changing everything over right now... I would imagine it may take 2-3 weeks for all these little nuances to work themselves out...
