stupidity should be painful, and/or expensive.

In today's day and age, with the information readily available at ones fingertips...a coin like this one should never have a single bid, let alone sell.

"Knowledge is key to collector success"...

I'm not one of the 32 bidders on this one, and I'm fairly certain that nobody else here on CCF is bidding on it. And I have this forum to thank for it.

Whenever I meet someone that shows interest in the hobby, I do my best to inform them to the best of my limited knowledge. I also tell them about this website.

I'm pretty sure that none of the folks I've come in contact with are bidding on it.

Well even if someone here one this and bought it, hopefully they would post it here or on another forum like it and people would have chimed in that it was fake. I did this with a fake 1876 Indian Head and you know I got my money back for it.

I see a 1917. I can't believe it went that high. The shield rivets, the walls on either side, and the robe curl appear to me as diagnostic for a 1917.

That is a terrible picture, no one should have bid on that.

And CoinsKelly, you crack me up all the time, thank you, I needed those laughs today.

Besides the shield rivets, the drapery from the right arm coming down is not a "wrap style". Those two alone confirm it for me as a 1917.
The pictures are blurry for a reason.
