I hate to suggest a conspiracy, but I've never seen anything like this! To live in Colorado and not see a single 2014-D nickel as we approach the end of May. I've talked with numerous other folks in the area - they see 2014 pennies and dimes but not one single nickel! The Numismatic News says the US Mint in Denver is producing them by the tens of millions. Could this turn into a "conspiracy" just as we saw with the 2009 P's and D's?

I haven't found any 2014-Ds either, but then again I live a lot closer to the Philly mint than Denver. It usually takes me into the next year before I ever find any D mint nickels.

It does seem strange that you haven't come across any yet, living in Colorado?

I got a solid box of 2014D a month and a half ago.

I got 2 solid boxes of 2014D cents 2 weeks ago.

Other than that 2014's in change are scarce around here.

Whenever I see a stack of shiny dimes in a tellers tray I ask if they are 2014's but they are always 2013.

I'm surprised to still see solid rolls / boxes of 2013's floating around.

Maybe 2014's will be the new 2009's?

I've come across a couple dozen 2014D, but so far not a single 2014P.

I'm not sure how coin distribution works. But maybe after minting the coins, they send them to where they are needed, which may not be Colorado right now. That would explain why you haven't seen any.

The only 2014 coin I've come across in circulation is a 2014D Jefferson nickel - go figure (sorry Phil). I'm not worried though as I suspect they'll appear in droves later.

ive gotten 2 solid 2013 boxes recently, and the one before 2014p.

Again, strange that brand new 2013 is coming out, not a good sign in mid 2014...

Heavens! I have recently received several solid 2014-D and 2013-D boxes. I do not care for them, as I have several choice examples of each date. Searching 4,000 nickels of the same date and mintmark is, to say the least, tedious.

Thanks all for the info. The distribution of these is interesting to say the least. It goes against conventional wisdom that you would see them first the closer you live to the mint.

I've only seen 2014 cents, dimes, and a single Shenandoah quarter... all P's. No D mints of any denomination, and no nickels yet.

I wish I would have seen this Tread before I posted in Nickel searching section. So far, I have had 4 boxes of all 2014 and a 5th with about 50 non-2014 coins in it. No keepers in the last 5 boxes. Just taking them back to the bank or opening them and dumping them. I'm going to give it a rest for a while and see if it gets back to normal.

Just got my first 2014P nickel today in change. Still need a Great Smoky to complete all the 2014 P's in circulation. No D's seen yet.
