For example:

1820: Dime, large diameter; Quarter, large diameter
1812 (start of War of 1812): classic head large cent
1834: All denominations
1836/1837: Half dollar reeded edge (50 cents)
1839: Half dollar reeded edge (Half dol.); Seateds no drapery
1853: Seateds arrows and rays; 3 cent silver
1854: Seateds, arrows
1857: Half/large cent; FE cent; 3 cent silver; seateds with no motto,
Half Dime with simple wreath
1863 (middle of civil war): CN
Indian cent1873: Cent; 2 cent; 3 cent nickel and silver; seateds with motto,
Half Dime with different wreath, arrows and no arrows,
Trade dollar1878-1921:
Morgan dollar1909: VDB cent
1912 (year Titanic sank):
LWC with no VDB on shoulder;
V nickel; Barbers
1943 (middle of WWII): Steelie

You could mix and match these and merge coins into different groupings at your pleasure as it is your collection. This is my preference.
