For those on here more familiar with Italian Gold then I, is anyone able to tell me what the discoloration on the left side of the obverse is? Thanks.

I own a certified 1857 20 Lire but I wouldn't say I'm familiar with these. I would probably grade EF-40 (Cleaned?). I guess you'll get more accurate opinion if you provide better pictures.

@zxcccxz Thank you again for answering this, as well as numerous other of my questions. I am in the process of obtaining a real camera (compared to cell phone & tablet cameras), so I should be able to post better images in the near future.

if you go to the Coin Photography Sub-form, you'll get heaps of tips.
Is the coin still in a holder ?
The only discolouration that I can see on the obverse, looks more like reflected glare from a holder of some description.

Your coin is from an interesting point in history: Napoleon abdicated on 11 April 1814.

@ Peter Thomas Thank you. Per your advice I just spent some time in the photo sub-form - I've got quite a lot to learn. The coin is in a plastic mylar saflip flap. I am hoping to get better images up soon. I had forgotten Napoleon adbicated in 1814 (its been a few years since History class).
