Got coin from a relative.
The coin was found in Adiyaman, Turkey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adıyaman) in the area of Mount Nemrut (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Nemrut).

I am very curious in which period the coin was made.

VAM? Doesn't VAM mean Morgan dollar varieties?

You might want to ask at the Worldofcoins.eu forum It has large membership of Asian and Indian experts who will likely identify the coin very quickly. The coin looks very much like its a Byzantium issue

It's a Byzantine tetarteron.
This would be more appropriate for the ancients forum.
I'll dig through Sear later and find the exact attribution.
