Would like to invest in some gold coins, but I'm risk averse, i.e., leary of counterfeits and price gouging. Naturally, I want to avoid scam artists and phony sellers. Experienced 'buyers/investors' advice and/or recommendations for sound practices and best value are welcome. If it matters...I'm in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Thanks in advance.

Perth Mint recommends http://www.govmint.com
You want to get as direct to the mints as possible for gold coins. Most mints don't sell direct but through their approved dealers, like a cartel.

You could also try Provident Metals, they should be in your Dallas Yellow Pages.

Try JMBullion here http://www.jmbullion.com/ buy with check or wire trans for best prices.

For a better choice but slightly higher prices try http://www.apmex.com/

There are others but these are the ones I tend to use.

I would feel very safe dealing with either Silvertowne or Moden a Coin Mart. Both have an excellent return policy which is very good for Zyour peace of mind and in my opinion guarantees honesty.

yup, I too have bought from Sivertowne, they botched an order I had .... and they made it right.

Also, modern coin mart, APMEX. .... and goldmart I think its called...

You can also buy from the US Mint... like you might want to consider buying their uncirculated american eagles, .....

I agree with Libertad, you are close enough to drive to Provident in Dallas, they are great!
