From the picture of the first one it looks blunt. Pic is blurry though. This denomination was the toughest for me to figure out.

Here's a couple more pics of the 5 of the first coin. The 5 looks a bit scratched.

Thanks pennyman. Is there an easier way to tell than by looking directly at the 5s? It's too small for me to see without more magnification and I get bad at comparing things when they're on a screen.

Thanks so much! Those pics are great, much better than the one in coinsandcanada. I've saved them for future reference. Apparently there's more than 1 kind of blunt 5 for some reason, do they put the dates in the dies individually?

Quote: do they put the dates in the dies individually? No they dont. But consider all the things that could change the look PMD, worn die, tooling, very tiny amount of hard packed grease, ect...

There's more things that can affect dies than I thought...

I have a 1985 pointed 5 to use as a comparison, the angle of the pointed 5 1965 is similar to that of the 1985, quite sharp on the angle. I see both your coins as blunts and one large bead and one small bead. When I first started checking my 65's I set them aside on the nights I had a beer or glass of wine lol. Cheers.

Thanks M_d_in_guy. I'll use these two to compare for large/small beads when I find more.
