Well I have another thread specific to one Ike that I am waiting to get for better pictures.

https://goccf.com/t/178480

However this got me to thinking so I pulled out what Ike's I have and started looking to see just what I have.

I am starting with the 1971's. Proofs and UNC's, Silver and not, and looking for varieties.

Well I think I have my first....and only that I can find. 1 very nice 1971-S Proof Peg Leg. This coin just happens to be the best looking that I have including the 3 Brown Ike's.

What I think I have is this: It is a Peg Leg, it is not DDO, it is DCAM, I can find no other attribute for this coin such as Tiger Claw or Crater Spike. I think it would grade PR68DCAM maybe 69. It is the best that I have and it is the Peg Leg so that is good.

I seem to understand that the Peg Leg in 1971 was common and not that rare so a minimum premium at best. Still this is a stunner in looks. My camera is still not the best but I think it along with my microscope came did OK in showing what I needed to show.

I would estimate this as being worth $25-$30 unless I am missing something.

Ike experts what say you?

First off! Great coin! I actively search for this coin,im sure you know why it gets the peg leg name? Polishing of the die. And when it comes to Ikes it is so hard to put a value on them. Ya just have to attribute them to you reference material of choice and throw a grade ot have someone grade it ( TPG) and then go from there, the old adage goes "A coin is only worth what someone will pay" I collect these along with any doubled coins or and other oddities I have a small but awesome collection of IKEs on those peg leg ikes keep your eyes peeled for reverse Doubling thats the monster coin. I actually got to see the cojn thats featured in the CPG at a coin show, the guy wanted 900 bucks for it!! Was super cool

Yeah I can see that, I just have no clue really. I have a lot to learn.

I checked this one real good, no doubling to be found, especially near the stars by the R in dollar. Too bad but still it is a very nice coin. I think I paid $10 for it.

A Stovepipe maybe? I have all but the 'R' so it leads me to think not...

These can be found here on the Ike Group (great site by the way).

This has them all but the R is not right. It is like it is not a Peg Leg so I do not think it is but it is close indeed.
