If so, what's up with that?

Does pcgs just not bother to mark less expensive older coins as "cleaned".

The reason I ask is that I like Peace dollars, and I would like to hoard them but, so many I see listed online just appear to be way to shiny to have the amount of scratches and marks that they have. It seems like at least half the Peace dollars I look at have this look. The others I have seen are either very dull, damaged, or expensive.

All these Peace dollars I'm seeing listed as "brilliant uncirculated" are either not brilliant at all, or they're polished.

scottk, Morgan and Peace dollars were kept in bank bags for decades and moved around from time to time for bank-to-bank transactions. They acquired a lot of bag marks from this handling, but are still considered uncirculated because they lack the rub/wear on the high points that would indicate circulation.

I don't see any obvious indication of cleaning in the links you provided.

I really see nothing wrong with these coins. I think part of the problem is the terrible images used by the sellers. So tye people buying tyese coins are probably buying the slab, not the coin.

Out of focus, poorly lit, grainy looking photos are the culprit.

They all look okay to me. The first has a bit of toning. The next two just have a few hairlines, no big deal though.

None of those show any indications at all of being cleaned. If they thought they were cleaned, they would have detailed them.

As mentioned, the hits you see have nothing to do with circulation. Simply bag marks.

I don't see any cleaning here... Although it would be nice to have better quality pictures cause you can't see much from those pictures...

First one has a lot of bag marks but the pattern is not like one sees with whizzing, so it looks ok to me. Second one has great cartwheel luster, so it has not been cleaned. Third one looks great despite numerous bag marks.
