Hi guys I'm thinking of starting a dairy for my pocket piece.....ASE 2014 coin its in a airtite now but will take it out and start trying to document the wear on it taking pics maybe once a month to see the prosess, when my kids inherit it they will find all the info on wear photos time and place where it took place.
Just wanted to know if its a good idea or overkill?

I've been doing the same thing with a .999 round that I accidentally dropped onto concrete. I take pictures every week or two and have been publishing them on my blog once in a while.

Here's what it looks like after 6 weeks

Nice! I was just thought it will add more value to the coin if you document it

It wouldn't add any value. I would keep it for sentimental value, but everyone else would just see a worn-down 2014 ASE that has less silver content, which is worth less.

There are several of us Lowball collectors that would be interested in seeing how it wears.

You'll be surprised to see what some lowball coin (lowgrade coin) collectors pay for PO-01 Eisenhower dollars. Since it is very difficult to get a problem-free coin in such a low grade, and the fact that 99.99% of all Ikes didn't circulate enough to get to Poor, lowball collectors will pay more than what they'd pay for a same coin in Unc.
Same case with PO-01 ASEs. There are tons and tons of MS-69 and MS-70s out there; however I do not believe I've ever seen a PO-01 one. When one surfaces the market, lowball collectors would declare a bidding war to get it - it's much, much rarer in PO than MS because they were never meant to be circulated.

Its not intended for selling, its for sentimental value for my kids and so on,if you had a coin from your grandad with a well documented coin to tell everything from date, place and time where the worst damage happened you would be proud to have it and yes it WILL also have a better selling price cause you have soooo much info on it,people want that to reflect back in history

Well its out and in my pocket, bye bye airtite I have bought a leather bound diary with acid free paper at quite a price but it ought to hold up better than the coin lol, and I have placed another order for 5 silver eagles 2014 just to fill in for the one in my pocket,my son which is 10 years old has caught the silver bug and is constantly asking me questions on the coins, being a bit of a novice I try to give him the facts but google helps a lot lol.
