Over the years, I have purchased some coins I shouldn't have, mostly from cr@ppy third party grading services. These were purchased when I was a newbie, before I stumbled on to this forum.

I have one coin from USCG, 2 coin from SGS, and one coin from GSA. Of course they are either PR70 or MS70.

Since then I have found out that these grading parties are not as accurate as NGC or PCGS.

I do not have OGP for any of these coins.

I am content with leaving them in their slabs. And if I broke them open, they would go straight into Airtites.

Do you agree? or have other suggestions what to do with these coins?

I think I'd just keep them. I still have newbie purchases that I bought from when I began and I keep them around as a reminder of how much I've learned since then.

I would also keep, unless you would prefer to sell them for something else. ALthough I am curious as to knowing more specifics about what coins they are.

Even an ms-66 is a totally awsome coin, super duper shiny...ms-higher than that is hard to believe...Protect those coins...nice for anyone who has a 70...

Is it possible the materials in the slabs (from "shaky" TPG) could harm the coins?

Doubtful - they tend to use commercially-available designs which are of a material inert to coins.

I too suggest keeping them the way they are. You never know about what people end up collecting. Today people collect fake, copies, Counterfeits, error coins, etc. Maybe soon there will be odd ball slab company collectors. If you ever use Google and type in Third Party Grading Serveses, TPGS, you may find close ot 100 of them. Some vanish over night. Others have grown substantially. VEry possibly in the near future there will be slab collectors and yours may end up being worth more than you think. You already have them so nothing to loose.

Thanks to all for your replies. As in the OP, I am content leaving the coins in their TPG-slabs. The USCG & GSA are sealed nicely and would take a hammer to crack them open. While the slabs from SGS can easily be opened with my fingernail.

with all the above, it's probably best to just leave them in their holders. While it might not add any value to the coins themselves, they do keep them safe and also serve as a reminder to buy the coin and not the holder.
