Is this a commemorative coin, or just a variation of the Britannia? Why the high price? Is it the sort of coin a person would just buy to set in a picture frame and hang on the wall?

It is not a "variation on the Britannia". Britannias are one ounce of .999 silver; these weigh less than an ounce and are made of sterling silver (.925 fine).

Britain has made numerous non-circulating 5 pound coins, in both silver and base-metal, since the 1990s. This is just one of seven £5 coins put out in 2009 commemorating the then-future Olympics.

CV in Krause and on the NGC database is US$50. £74.95 seems a bit... optimistic. But I'll admit I have no idea what others in this series are currently selling for.

I'll also move this to the British Coins forum for you.

Oh ok thanks. Yeah I saw another auction that had ended (don't know how long ago) and the coin had sold for us$42. I can't find any others for sale though. What an odd coin.
